About this test
You’ll need to secure your Hawaiian driver’s license if you want to go gathering macadamias in Maui or coffee in Kauai. But before you can do that, you’ll have to hit the Hawaiian DMV. The state of Hawaii requires a written knowledge test based on the 2024 Hawaii Drivers Manual to receive your learner’s permit or license. The test will consist of 30 multiple-choice questions covering road signage, road rules, pedestrian safety laws, traffic fines, driving limits, safe driving practices, and more. You’ll need to answer at least 25 of the 30 questions correctly to pass the written exam. Once you’ve studied enough, be sure to bring your birth certificate, social security card, parental consent forms if you’re under 18, and applicable fees to your local DMV. Your knowledge test will have a $2 testing fee, or $10 if you choose to take it in an oral format, $8 when it’s time for your road test, and a location-based fee (between $5-10) for your permit or license; accepted payment methods vary by location. This DMV practice test set in Exam Mode will simulate exactly what it will be like to take the test. Questions are just like what you will see on your exam, hints and answers are disabled, and the test will end early if you answer too many questions incorrectly.
