How to Pass Indiana BMV Test
How To Proceed
-
1
Contact the Indiana BMV to Find Out the Qualifications for a License
To start the process of getting your drivers license, make sure that you meet the minimum qualifications for an Indiana driving license. The Indiana drivers license requirements are that you must be at least 16 for a provisional license and at least 18 for an unrestricted license.
-
2
Gather the Required Documentation
To qualify to take your Indiana permit test you must first present the required documentation. You should start gathering these items now so that you have plenty of time to find the documents that you need. You don’t want to be rushing around at the last minute trying to find your birth certificate. If you plan ahead the process will be much less stressful. You will need to prove your name, age, residency and social security number.
-
3
Get an Indiana Drivers Manual
The best tool that you will have for preparing for this test is an Indiana drivers manual. This guide will teach you about drivers safety, rules, regulations and more. You can get your manual online or at the Indiana BMV.
-
4
Fill Out the Indiana BMV Forms
When you go into the BMV you will start the application process by filling out the appropriate BMV forms. If you are under 18 you will need to bring a parent with you to provide their permission. You will also need to pay an Indiana learners permit fee at this point. The fee is $9. Make sure that you bring along your documents that you have found as well since they will be required.
-
5
Take Your Indiana Drivers Permit Test
Next you will take a permit test that will consist of multiple choice questions about traffic safety, Indiana laws and more. You can prepare for this test by studying your Indiana BMV drivers manual and by taking an Indiana BMV practice test.
-
6
Get Your Indiana Learners Permit
If you provide the necessary documentation, pay the fee and pass your test, you can receive your permit. This permit will allow you to drive on Indiana roads as long as you have a licensed driver over 21 in the front seat of your vehicle. Keep your permit with you at all times when driving.
-
7
Practice with Your Indiana Learner Permit
Make sure that you spend a lot of time practicing once you have your learners permit. Drivers under 18 must hold their permit for at least 6 months if they complete drivers school and at least 9 months without going to drivers school.
-
8
Schedule an Appointment for Your Indiana Driving Test
Once you are comfortable with your ability to safely drive, schedule an appointment for a drivers test. You will need to demonstrate your ability to park, drive, reverse and more. Make sure that you provide your own vehicle and that you obey the laws of the state. Schedule an appointment by contacting the Indiana BMV.

9
Take Your Driving Test
When you go in for your BMV test make sure that you have someone else drive you. Also make sure that you drive safely and that you wear your seat belt. Remember that you should never use your cell phone during a BMV test.

Get Out and Use Your New License
Once you pass your test, you can get your license. The fee for an Indiana license is $21 for a regular license or $16 for a probationary license. If you are under 18 you will be receiving a probationary license.
