Use Your Permit to Practice
If you pass the tests and pay a $3.50 fee you can have your permit. Once you have your permit you can start practicing your driving skills. You must have a qualified driver in the front seat supervising you at all times while driving. You will need to hold your permit for at least 182 days if you are under 18 before you can qualify for a license. The fee is $7.50 for drivers over 18.
Schedule a Behind the Wheel Test
Contact the State Highway Patrol to schedule your behind the wheel test. Make sure that you have gotten in at least 40 hours of practice during daytime and nighttime hours before you take your test. There is no time requirement for drivers over 18.
Take the Missouri Drivers Test
This test will ensure that you know how to safely drive in Missouri. If you pass you can take this form to the DMV for your license. The fee will be $7.50 for an intermediate license or $22.50 for a full adult license.
Fulfill Graduated Licensing Requirements (if under 18)
If you are under 18 you will receive a graduated license. This license will have special restrictions such as no more than 1 passenger under 19 for the first 6 months and no driving between 1 am and 5 am.
