About this test
There are just 50 questions between you and your New Mexico commercial driver’s license. But the questions that you find on the General Knowledge test can be trickier than you think. You only have an hour to get them done and if you miss more than 10 you fail. Failure means you’ll have to come back to the MVD another day — and that can be a headache. To avoid this, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with the official New Mexico Commercial Driver’s Manual and take practice tests until you are confident with the material. But in addition to these, you need to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Essentially it certifies that you are physically qualified to drive a commercial vehicle. These certifications can only be picked up from a licensed medical examiner as listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry.
