Replace or Renew Your Driver License in Rhode Island

You must renew your RI driver license before it expires. You can renew your operator’s driver license in person at one of the DMV locations. You must renew in person if one of the following is true about you:- You are a non-US citizen
- Your license expired more than 180 days ago
- Your license is suspended or revoked

Step 1
Complete the application form. You can download it here.
Step 2
Bring the form and your current license. If your license is lost, check the third page of the application for the list of documents required. If you are a visa applicant, you are required to bring immigration/naturalization documents.
Step 3
Pay the fee of 61.50 for the 5-year renewal. You can pay by cash, money order, checks, and credit card (MasterCard, Discover, Visa, and American Express). You will have to add the $1.50 technology surcharge and a service fee of 1.50 dollars if paid by a credit card.
