AL CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Test 3 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

To legally operate combination vehicles in Alabama, you must satisfy several requirements. You must earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and, per federal law, complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) with an FMCSA-approved provider before scheduling the CDL skills test. You will then need to take the skills test in a combination vehicle. Before practicing behind-the-wheel driving, you must pass the Alabama Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test.

The official test includes questions on driving safety, air brake use, proper coupling/uncoupling, and inspection of tractor-trailers and other combinations. The 20-question multiple-choice test must be passed with a score of at least 80%. If you do not pass, you may retest after waiting at least one business day, but you may be required to pay an additional fee. Our experts have put together a series of practice tests to ensure you won’t face any delays or added fees!

Our Alabama CDL Combination Practice Tests are designed to mirror the format and content type of the official exam. You will receive immediate feedback, hints, and detailed explanations for each answer instead of having to wait until the end of the assessment. This has been shown to speed learning and increase material retention.

Why go to all the trouble? Earning your Class A CDL opens doors to major trucking opportunities. Alabama’s major highways include I-20, I-65, I-59, and I-85, which connect Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, and Huntsville to regional and national freight hubs. Industries such as automotive manufacturing (Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, and Toyota-Mazda), agriculture and poultry, forestry, shipping (through the Port of Mobile), and logistics services depend on Class A drivers. Large employers such as US Foods, Tyson Foods, UPS, XPO Logistics, and regional distribution centers require licensed Class A drivers. Simply put, without this class of license, this entire swath of additional opportunity is closed to you. Since most tractor-trailers and combination vehicles are equipped with air brakes, you will also want to prepare for the Air Brakes Knowledge Test if you haven’t already. Our experts have created practice tests for this purpose, as well as other additional Alabama endorsements like Hazardous Materials.
