- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 AZ commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for September 2025
Adding a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement to your Arizona CDL can significantly increase your job opportunities and earning power. Employers pay a premium for drivers licensed to transport fuel, chemicals, and industrial gases safely. The payoff is worth the hassle of getting the endorsement. Major Arizona-based companies, including Freeport-McMoRan (mining and industrial chemicals), Honeywell (aerospace and manufacturing materials), and Sundt Construction (infrastructure and fuel transport), all rely on CDL drivers with HazMat endorsements. These jobs offer higher wages and steady demand, as hazardous cargo is essential to Arizona’s economy. This Arizona CDL HazMat Practice Test is number two in our series, scientifically designed to help you pass the official knowledge exam on your first attempt.
To qualify in Arizona, you must first complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprinting and security background check. The Arizona MVD cannot issue the endorsement until TSA grants approval. While you wait for what can sometimes be weeks for the results, you’ll want to study and practice for the second step: the MVD knowledge test. You’ll need to pass the HazMat knowledge test with a minimum score of 80%. The exam pulls directly from the HazMat section of the Arizona CDL Manual, covering topics like placarding rules, safe loading and unloading, shipping papers, and emergency response procedures. Arizona’s 30-question knowledge test also covers federal regulations, substance handling, packaging, quantity limits, and transport configurations (Arizona CDL Handbook 2025). That’s a substantial amount of material to test on!
If this all seems a bit daunting, don’t worry! Our Arizona HazMat practice tests mirror the state exam and provide real-time feedback while covering all tested categories. If you miss a response, the practice exam shows you exactly why another answer choice was the right one, reinforcing the learning process as you go. Our experts have designed our online practice tests to focus only on the necessary material for the official test.
Once you receive your TSA results and feel prepared from all the practice, you’ll visit the MVD with the necessary documents, pay the fees, and pass the test with flying colors.
Arizona’s highways cross deserts, mountain passes, and the beautiful Grand Canyon region. See it all with a highly lucrative HazMat endorsement added to your CDL. Be sure to review our entire suite of Arizona-specific practice tests (and test prep for additional endorsements!), and start your journey today!
