There are three main classes of Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs). A Class A CDL allows you to drive vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more, provided the towed vehicle has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of more than 10,000 pounds. If you want to drive semi-trucks and tractor-trailers in Arkansas, this license is for you. Those interested in driving large buses and straight trucks will pursue a Class B CDL. If you want to operate smaller commercial vehicles that transport at least 16 occupants (including the driver) or hazardous materials, you must obtain a Class C CDL.
Regardless of the class you choose, you must pass the official General Knowledge Exam and meet several other requirements. This test includes 50 multiple-choice questions based on the official Commercial Driver’s License Manual (Arkansas CDL Handbook 2026). You must score 80% or higher to pass, leaving little room for error.
You should read this manual multiple times during your learning phase. Familiarize yourself with the basics, and when you’re ready, you can use our Arkansas CDL General Knowledge Practice Tests to evaluate your knowledge.
The practice test that you’re about to take is the second in this series of five. It includes questions similar to those you will get at the DMV office. Please read every question twice and consider each answer choice before you select one. If you make a mistake, you will get the opportunity to learn from it before you proceed to the next question. A detailed explanation will help you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer. Pay attention to this feedback and save it in a notebook or notebook app for future reference.
