Imagine yourself hauling freight through Little Rock, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, and the Mississippi River corridor or timber and agricultural goods across the Natural State. Once you obtain your commercial driver’s license (CDL), you can make that a reality. There are several steps to this process, one of which is passing the Arkansas DMV CDL General Knowledge Test. Passing this test is no small feat. That’s why our content experts have created a series of Arkansas DMV CDL General Knowledge Practice Tests and designed them to help you pass your official exam on the first attempt.
The substantial amount of official test material is based on sections of the state CDL Manual, mostly the Driving Safely and Transporting Cargo Safely sections. You’ll need to be prepared for questions about vehicle inspections, basic control, safe backing, shifting, visibility, communication, speed control, space management, hazard recognition, distracted and aggressive driving, fatigue, fog, and winter and hot-weather operation. Other topics include railroad crossings, mountain driving, emergency procedures, antilock brakes, skid recovery, crashes, fires, alcohol, drugs, and basic hazardous-materials responsibilities. You’ll also cover cargo-related material that includes loading, weight distribution, securement, inspection requirements, and the ways an improperly loaded vehicle can affect steering, braking, and stability. Our study materials will have you fully prepared!
Many questions on the official exam require judgment and a true conceptual understanding of the material. That means that simple memorization will not prepare you for the official exam. Static pdfs and outdated study guides focus on memorization of the material when a high level of understanding is needed. For example, a driver may need to identify an unsafe suspension component, determine how much following distance a long vehicle needs, or choose a safe speed before a downgrade when ice has reduced traction. Our practice tests offer an interactive platform that is AI-powered and designed to teach you as you go. Our Challenge Bank™ recycles missed questions until you answer correctly, boosting overall retention and speed of learning. Also, once you’ve passed this exam, you might consider studying to have the Air Brakes restriction removed from your CDL. Many large commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles use air brakes. Applicants who plan to drive such vehicles must pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and complete the skills test in an air brake-equipped vehicle.
