Arkansas truly is the "Land of Opportunity" for commercial driver’s license (CDL) holders who obtain their Passenger "P" Endorsement. The Natural State is where the Ozarks, the Ouachitas, the Delta, college towns, resort areas, and busy cities all depend on safe passenger transportation. If you have a CDL and plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport 16 or more occupants (including the driver), you’ll need a Passenger "P" endorsement. One of the requirements for obtaining the P endorsement is passing a Knowledge Test based on material in the state CDL Manual. You must also pass the skills tests for the class of passenger vehicle you plan to operate (if you haven’t already done so). If the passenger vehicles you plan to drive have air brakes, you must also pass the Air Brakes knowledge test and a skills test in a vehicle with air brakes (if you have not already done so).
Before you start feeling overwhelmed, know that our expert-crafted Arkansas DMV CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests use the same multiple-choice structure as the official exam to prepare you for testing. With AI-powered, interactive capabilities, our Challenge Bank™ of questions remembers any you miss and redistributes them into your queue until you answer them correctly. No stone is left unturned, and our practice tests ensure you pass on the first attempt. Once you’ve aced this practice test, try another: https://driving-tests.org/arkansas/ar-cdl-passenger-vehicles-practice-test/.
During your studies, you’ll cover pre-trip and post-trip inspections and how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering mechanism, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices, and emergency equipment. You’ll also learn the protocol for inspecting the inside of the bus, including aisles and stairwells, handholds and railings, signaling devices, seats, and emergency exit signs. You’ll need to inspect handles, doors, windows, and roof hatches to make sure they are ready for use.
You must also know how to load and supervise passengers safely. For example, riders may not leave carry-on baggage in a doorway or aisle, and baggage must be secured so it does not block emergency exits, interfere with your driving, or injure passengers if it falls. You are also expected to watch for prohibited hazardous materials in cargo or baggage (most of which cannot be carried on a bus). There are many expectations, including protocol at railroad crossings and drawbridges, that you are responsible for knowing. All of these details are covered in the state manual, and our practice tests ensure you are fully prepared.
