If you’re in the market for a California CDL Double/Triple Trailers Endorsement, you may already know that in California you cannot tow more than one trailer or vehicle unless it’s for commercial purposes and you have this endorsement. The key requirement for achieving this is passing a 20-question multiple-choice knowledge test. The test requires a score of 80% (or 16 correct answers) to pass. Once you secure this certification, you receive a “T” endorsement on your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), which authorizes you to pull two or three trailers (where such laws allow) and operate combination vehicles that require this added skill and knowledge (California CDL Handbook 2025). (Currently, California does not allow triple trailers.)
In California, drivers with a Double/Triple Trailers endorsement commonly haul freight and parcels from companies like UPS and FedEx, as well as retail goods, agricultural products, building materials, and more. This endorsement adds a significant amount of marketability to your transport credentials! You may be saying to yourself, “That sounds great! But how can I best prepare for this test?”
Based on the official CA CDL HandbookHandbook‑based (2025) + exam‑taker feedback
You will find no shortage of online resources but too much information can be overwhelming. What you need is a systematic and focused approach. That’s where our online practice test comes in. It is up to date as of December 2025 and includes 20 multiple-choice questions that resemble what you will face at the DMV on your actual test day!
As you take our free online California CDL Double/Triple Trailers practice test, you will receive immediate and detailed feedback on your answers. If you get a question wrong, you are immediately shown exactly why a different response is better. This helps solidify the content in your mind as you progress through the practice session, instead of bombarding you with the entire assessment at the end.
The good news is that the state of California only requires the passing of this knowledge test in order to add the “T” endorsement to your already existing Class A or Class B CDL. Once you have prepared, passed our free practice tests, and feel ready to go, you simply apply at the DMV, provide the required documentation, and pay the required fee prior to taking the official test.
