Free Colorado CDL HazMat Endorsement Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements

Colorado. Ah! The freedom that comes with driving through the Rocky Mountains. Since you’re on this site, you must be interested in the sweet opportunities available once you’ve added the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement to your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Why wouldn’t you be? This endorsement expands your job potential to an entire sector of organizations requiring this particular transport expertise. More jobs, more potential income. (If you’re younger than 21, you won’t be eligible for the Hazmat endorsement but don’t be discouraged. Check out our Double/Triple Trailers endorsement practice tests for intrastate driving.)

The Hazmat endorsement will permit you to transport materials that the U.S. government has deemed hazardous, like explosives, certain types of fuel, industrial chemicals, radioactive materials, and infectious substances. You might be worried and thinking: “Do I really want to transport radioactive materials?” Rest assured, the most important objective of this endorsement process is to ensure the utmost level of safety.

First, you’ll need to pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprinting and background check. The results from TSA can take weeks, so you’ll want to take advantage of that waiting period by preparing for the second major hurdle: the DMV knowledge test. The knowledge test is made up of 30 questions (24 out of 30 answers must be correct) and addresses federal regulations, substance handling, material packaging, and more (Colorado CDL Handbook 2025).

In the Centennial State, there are multiple industries that require a Hazmat endorsement, including chemicals used in mining (such as explosives and solvents), propane, gasoline, and materials used in oil and gas production. Ball Corporation (Boulder) and Xcel Energy (Denver) are just two of the companies needing truck drivers with a Hazmat endorsement. Excited about the growing list of opportunities? Let’s get you prepared!

Our online DMV Colorado CDL Hazmat Endorsement practice tests are strategically designed to focus on the necessary information. We get straight to what’s relevant, and our practice tests mimic what you will face on the official DMV test. If you get a question wrong, you’re immediately provided with an explanation of why another answer choice is correct. Once you have your TSA results in hand and feel prepared, you’ll visit the DMV with the necessary documents, pay the fees, and confidently take the test.
