The Centennial State is filled with opportunities for passenger-endorsed CDL drivers. From the sights of its big cities like Denver, to its breathtaking mountain grades, there is plenty of demand for drivers of resort shuttles, airport routes, charter trips, school activity travel, and more. If you have your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver), you’ll need a Passenger "P" endorsement. One of the requirements for obtaining the P endorsement is passing the Colorado DMV Passenger Transport Test, which covers material found in Sections 2 and 4 of the state CDL manual. This isn’t the only requirement, and depending on what type of vehicle you plan to drive, you may also need to pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test. You are also required to pass the Skills Test in the class of passenger vehicle you plan to operate (if you haven’t already done so). Our Colorado DMV CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests present the tested material in the same multiple-choice structure as the official exam. You’ll also become familiar with the tricky wording sometimes used. Our content experts have removed any unnecessary fluff and carefully crafted these tests to ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt.
The bulk of the exam focuses on your understanding of how to keep passengers safe throughout each leg of the trip. This includes responsibilities before passengers even step into the vehicle (pre-trip inspections) and after they exit the vehicle (post-trip inspections). You are expected to know how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering mechanism, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices, and emergency equipment. You must also inspect the inside of the bus, where aisles and stairwells must be clear, handholds and railings must be secure, signaling devices must work, seats must be safely fastened, and emergency exits must be marked, accessible, and ready for use. During the trip, you’ll need to know how to load and unload passengers safely, manage carry-on baggage, follow hazardous materials restrictions, recognize the standee line, avoid distracting conversations with passengers, and handle disruptive riders.
