Want to boost your CDL with instant access to higher-paying jobs? We have an entire series of Delaware-specific endorsement practice tests. Adding the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement to your CDL is one of the fastest ways to expand your opportunities. This certification qualifies you to transport government-regulated hazardous materials, including explosives, fuels, industrial chemicals, and radioactive materials. The process of obtaining this endorsement has quite a few steps to ensure you can demonstrate safety for yourself, others, and the environment. Our study materials and practice tests will ensure you are ready to pass the required Delaware DMV Knowledge Test upon your first attempt!
To qualify, you must first complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprinting and background check and Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for Hazardous Materials Endorsement. Next, you must pass the DMV Hazardous Materials written knowledge test. The exam covers federal regulations, handling procedures, packaging, transport configurations, and quantity limits. In Delaware, the test has 30 questions, and you’ll need to score at least 80% (24 correct answers out of 30) to pass (Delaware CDL Handbook 2025). The minimum age is 21 for both interstate and intrastate transport in Delaware. If you are under 21 and looking for additional CDL opportunities, be sure to check out our Air Brakes and general CDL Practice Tests, some of which can be found here: https://driving-tests.org/delaware/de-cdl-practice-test/ and https://driving-tests.org/delaware/de-cdl-air-brakes-practice-test-2/.
According to the 2025 Delaware CDL manual (Delaware CDL Handbook 2025), the Hazmat endorsement allows drivers to handle more specialized cargo hauls! Once issued, the Hazmat endorsement connects you to a wide range of industries in Delaware, including chemical manufacturing (DuPont, Chemours), petroleum and energy, agriculture, waste management, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and industrial services. These organizations often pay a premium for drivers with this endorsement.
With all the material necessary for passing the official exam, studying can be quite overwhelming. Our online practice tests are designed to mirror the exact structure and content of the official exam at the DMV site, filtering out irrelevant material so you can focus only on what matters. This speeds the learning process and increases retention. Also, this is just one of three available HazMat practice tests. Be sure to check out all of our preparation material, including the practice test found here: https://driving-tests.org/delaware/de-cdl-hazmat-practice-test/.
When you feel ready, take your documents to the DMV, pay any fees, and pass the official knowledge test.
