- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 ID commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
If you already have your CDL and you’d like to legally operate double or triple trailer combinations, you must pass the Double/Triple Trailers (T) Knowledge Test. Doing so adds the T Endorsement to your Class A CDL. The official Idaho exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer at least 16 correctly (80%) to pass. If you fail, the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) enforces a minimum one-business-day waiting period, and fees may apply after three attempts.
Our Free Idaho CDL Double/Triple Trailers (T) Practice Tests are scientifically designed to mirror the actual DMV test format and help you pass on your first attempt. Real-time feedback, in-question hints, and AI-powered learning tools make studying faster and more effective than with traditional methods like study guides.
All questions are based on the most recent Idaho CDL Manual and cover safety topics such as coupling and uncoupling of trailers, preventing jackknifing and rollovers, the importance of smooth steering (avoiding the “crack-the-whip” effect), maintaining safe following distances, applying correct braking techniques in longer combination vehicles, and performing inspection checklists on all trailers. This is just some of what you must know to be fully prepared for the exam. Take the guesswork out and use our practice tests to ensure you are prepared.
Earning your T Endorsement in Idaho enhances your CDL and makes you eligible for higher-paying jobs. With I-15, I-84, and I-86 running through Idaho and hubs in Boise, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello, CDL drivers certified for doubles and triples are in constant demand. Top companies like Swift Transportation, XPO, and FedEx Freight frequently hire Idaho drivers with T Endorsements.
Because most double and triple trailer combinations use air brakes, you must pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test to remove the “L” or “Z” restriction from your CDL. We have practice tests for this test and also offer Idaho-specific practice tests for endorsements: N (Tank Vehicles), H (Hazardous Materials), X (Hazmat/Tanker Combo), P (Passenger Vehicles), and S (School Buses). Each endorsement requires a written test, and we have your preparation needs covered!
This is Practice Test Two of our Idaho CDL Double/Triple Trailers series. Be sure to complete Practice Test One as well, and visit our full collection of Gem State-specific endorsement and air brake practice exams. Each one is specifically designed to speed the learning process and help you pass that official exam on your first attempt!
