In Iowa, you cannot pull more than one trailer unless you have a Double/Triple ("T") endorsement on your Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License). To obtain this endorsement, the Department of Transportation (DOT) requires you to pass a -question knowledge test on the safe operation of Longer Combination Vehicles (LCVs). All questions are based on Section 7 (Doubles and Triples) of the official National CDL Manual (Iowa CDL Handbook 2026). We recommend reading this section at least once, and when you’re ready, you can evaluate your knowledge with our Iowa CDL Double/Triple Trailers Practice Tests.
You’re about to take the fourth practice test in this series, which can be accessed on any compatible device. Whether you use a tablet or a smartphone, you have the flexibility to study anytime, anywhere in the world. Our practice tests are browser-based, so you won’t have to install any software. Before you begin your first training session, we recommend opening the official National CDL Manual in another window. Look for the correct answers in Section 7 while you work through the questions. Ignore your score during your first few attempts and focus on learning from your mistakes.
Your personal Challenge Bank™ is a practice test that includes all the questions you previously got wrong. Visit this section at the end of your study sessions to identify areas that need improvement. We provide a detailed explanation for each question, helping you understand the reasoning behind the correct answer. With Premium, you can add any question to your Challenge Bank by clicking the bookmark icon in the top-right corner of the page. Remember, your Challenge Bank gets smaller as you get better.
Once you consistently obtain passing scores on this practice test, you can consider taking the official Double/Triple Trailers Knowledge Test. If you haven’t yet obtained a Class A CDL, we recommend incorporating our Free Iowa CDL Permit Practice Test into your study routine. When used regularly, this intuitive tool will teach you general commercial driving theory and make you a better driver.
