In Kansas, the Department of Revenue (DMV) oversees the licensing process. All aspiring commercial drivers must meet eligibility requirements and pass several theory and skills exams before they can get a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). The official general knowledge test includes 50 questions based on the official Kansas Commercial Driver License Manual (Kansas CDL Handbook 2025). To pass, you must answer all questions before the timer runs out and score 80% or higher.
Improve your chances of achieving a passing score on your first attempt with the help of our Free Kansas CDL Permit Practice Test, an intuitive tool designed to boost your learning potential. After passing this exam, you will be granted a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). This permit allows you to practice driving commercial vehicles under the supervision of a full CDL holder.
Starting in 2022, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) mandated Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) for all aspiring commercial drivers. As of October 2025, this requirement remains in effect. You must get ELDT from a provider listed in the Training Provider Registry (TPR) before you can schedule and take your CDL skills tests. Driving a fully-loaded 18-wheeler involves great responsibility, making this training crucial. Its purpose is to reduce accidents and ensure that all licensed commercial drivers have the essential skills and knowledge to safely operate commercial vehicles.
The official combination vehicles knowledge exam includes 20 questions. All questions have multiple answer choices, but only one is correct. You must pass this exam and a CDL skills test in a combination vehicle to legally drive semi-trucks in Kansas. During your learning phase, we recommend reading the official commercial driver’s license manual multiple times, especially Section 6 (Combination Vehicles).
This Kansas CDL Combination Vehicles Practice Test, one of several we offer, has been designed to help you improve your knowledge through active learning. Since this practice test is not timed, you can finish each training session at your own pace. Improve your knowledge one question at a time and, within a few weeks, you’ll consistently achieve passing scores.
