First-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants

On the Kansas Turnpike and major roadways, such as I-70 and I-35, and the wheat fields, cattle operations, aviation manufacturing, and rural communities across the Sunflower State, drivers with a commercial driver’s license (CDL) connect businesses with markets throughout the country. In order to obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), one of the requirements is to pass the Kansas DMV CDL General Knowledge Test. To obtain a CDL, you must hold the CLP for at least 14 days, complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) through a provider listed in the federal Training Provider Registry (TPR), and pass a Skills Test. Without a doubt, there are multiple steps involved in the overall process and a lot of material to be learned for the official knowledge exam. The exam contains 50 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer at least 40 correctly to earn the required 80% minimum passing score. Don’t worry. Our expert-crafted Kansas DMV CDL General Knowledge Practice Tests are designed without all the extra fluff and focused on the material you actually need to pass the official exam on your first attempt.

The official exam measures whether you can apply safe-driving principles to real-world conditions and requires more than just the memorization of facts. That’s why static PDFs and potentially outdated study guides are no longer effective in completely preparing you for the official exam. Our AI-powered, interactive practice tests help you learn as you go while also providing real-time explanations for each response. With our preparatory materials, including an interactive CDL manual, you’ll learn about vehicle inspections, basic vehicle control, backing, shifting, communicating with other road users, maintaining visibility, controlling speed, and managing space on the roadways. You’ll learn to recognize hazards before they become emergencies and how to deal with distracted and aggressive drivers.

Our Challenge Bank™ helps you learn while you practice by recycling missed questions until you answer them correctly. Ace this practice test and try another: https://driving-tests.org/kansas/ks-cdl-practice-test/.

We also have practice tests for specialized qualifications, like this Combination Vehicles Practice Test: https://driving-tests.org/kansas/ks-cdl-combination-test/. Because many CMVs are equipped with air brakes, you may want to study for the Air Brakes Knowledge Exam, the passing of which is required to have the air brakes restriction removed from your CDL (along with a Skills Test in an air brake-equipped vehicle). Visit one of our practice tests for that, too: https://driving-tests.org/kansas/ks-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
