The Sunflower State has lots of passenger transportation opportunities across Wichita, Topeka, Kansas City, Lawrence, Manhattan, Salina, Dodge City, and from college towns, airport shuttles, church buses, transit routes, charter trips, school transportation networks, and more. If you have your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including yourself, you’ll need a Kansas CDL with the Passenger "P" endorsement. The need for this endorsement is based on the vehicle’s design; having fewer passengers in a vehicle designed for 16 or more does not negate the need for the endorsement. One of the requirements for obtaining the P endorsement is passing the Passenger Transport Knowledge Test. You must also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test if the CMV has air brakes. You must also pass the Skills Test in the class of passenger vehicle you plan to operate.
That can seem like a lot at first, but our Kansas DMV CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests, based on the state’s CDL manual, present the tested material in the same multiple-choice format used on the official exam and with similar wording. This helps you become comfortable with the content before test day and helps ensure you pass the official exam on your first attempt.
You must know how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering system, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices when present, and required emergency equipment. All of this can be tested on the official exam. You must also inspect the passenger compartment, where aisles and stairwells must be clear, seats must be secure, handholds and railings must be safe, signaling devices must work, and emergency exits, signs, handles, doors, windows, and roof hatches must be functioning. You also must balance passenger supervision with constant attention to traffic and road conditions. You will need to know how to secure carry-on baggage so it does not block an aisle or emergency exit, follow hazardous-materials restrictions, manage disruptive passengers, and make smooth starts and stops. You’ll need to understand the protocol for railroad crossings, drawbridges, and more.
Our practice tests include an interactive, AI-powered Challenge Bank™ that remembers any questions you miss and repeats them until you answer correctly. Once you’ve aced this practice test, try another: https://driving-tests.org/kansas/ks-cdl-passenger-vehicles-practice-test/.
