- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 LA commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
Whether you’re hauling along I‑10 through Baton Rouge and Lafayette or navigating I‑20 through Shreveport and Monroe, take your commercial driving career to the next level in Louisiana by earning the Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement. It’s a smart move for Louisiana-based drivers aiming to boost their job prospects and income. It opens doors to higher-paying jobs with major carriers like Old Dominion, XPO Logistics, and FedEx Freight.
To legally operate double or triple trailers in Louisiana, you’ll need to pass the Louisiana Double/Triple Trailers (T) Endorsement Knowledge Test, which is based on Section 7 of the Louisiana Commercial Driver License Manual. This test is administered by the Louisiana OMV and includes 20 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 16 correctly (80%) to pass. Failing the exam results in a minimum one-business-day waiting period before retesting, and additional fees apply after three failed attempts.
With only four incorrect answers allowed, there’s not a lot of margin for error. That’s where our Louisiana-specific Doubles/Triples Endorsement Practice Tests come in! Our team of experts has designed these practice tests to mirror the official exam format. You’ll also be provided with special learning-enhancement features that include real-time feedback, helpful hints, and AI-driven training tools. These added features have been scientifically proven to speed the learning process and increase retention. These features are far more effective than traditional study guides.
The practice test covers coupling and uncoupling trailers, preventing rollovers and jackknifing, the “crack-the-whip” effect, inspection procedures for multiple trailers, and braking distance and following safety for combination vehicles. These topics regularly appear on the official exam.
You must also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and pass your skills test in a vehicle equipped with air brakes. Otherwise, your CDL will include an “L” restriction, prohibiting you from operating air brake-equipped vehicles, which means you’ll be unable to legally drive doubles and triples.
We also recommend you further diversify your driving credentials with additional endorsements, and we’ve got you covered there as well! Our platform offers free Louisiana CDL Practice Tests for N (Tank Vehicles), H (Hazardous Materials), X (Combo Tank and Hazmat), P (Passenger), and S (School Bus) endorsements.
With a Louisiana T Endorsement in hand, you’re not just a driver, you’re one of the top-tier professionals in this industry. Start preparing today!
