- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 LA commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for September 2025
Can you figure out if your tires are properly inflated without a gauge? Do you know how to visually check your brake system for potential problems? As a commercial driver in Louisiana, it is your duty to perform a pre-trip inspection at the start of each working day. Whether you transport hazardous materials in a tanker or 80 passengers in a tour bus, it is crucial that your vehicle is in working condition.
Aspiring drivers who want to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) in Louisiana must pass a pre-trip inspection test, which evaluates their ability to inspect a commercial vehicle before a trip. Many consider the pre-trip inspection test the hardest part of the CDL skills test, not because the concepts are hard to understand, but because there are so many vehicle checks you have to memorize and perform from memory. Furthermore, you must get a perfect score on your tests of the braking system. Failing to perform even one of the braking system tests correctly constitutes automatic failure of the pre-trip inspection test. That’s why the learning process is essential in this situation. Students have plenty of resources available, from handbooks to local legislation and real-life examples. However, there is an effective method that allows you to learn as you practice, evaluate your knowledge and become familiar with the actual CDL written knowledge test.
Our practice tests consist of 20 questions based on the official 2025 CDL manual (https://driving-tests.org/louisiana/la-cdl-handbook/). To pass, you will need to provide a correct answer to 80% of the questions. Detailed feedback is provided after every question with a complete explanation that helps you better understand the subject and learn from your mistakes. Once you consistently obtain passing results on our practice tests, you can consider taking the official CDL knowledge test.
Some students let fate dictate the outcome of this exam. Even though they spend hours studying the official handbook, emotions of anxiety and nervousness hinder their performance during the test. But after practicing on our simulated exam, you’ll show up at the OMV office prepared as you’ll know what to expect. At that point, you will already be familiar with the format of this exam and the questions in it.
