Imagine yourself transporting passengers through the Pine Tree State! From Portland, Bangor, Augusta, and Lewiston, through its beautiful coastal towns, island connections, Acadia-area tourism, ski communities, college campuses, and rural routes, there are lots of job opportunities awaiting CDL holders who obtain a Passenger "P" Endorsement. Maine needs commercial drivers for airport shuttles, church trips, public transit, school transportation, tourism, senior transportation, and paratransit service. If you plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to carry more than 15 passengers, including the driver, you’ll need a Maine CDL with the P endorsement. Among the requirements for obtaining the P endorsement are passing the Passenger Transport Knowledge Test and passing the Skills Test in a passenger vehicle representative of the Class A, B, or C vehicle you expect to operate. That’s not all. If you plan to operate a vehicle equipped with air brakes, you must also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test (and complete the Skills Test in an air brake-equipped vehicle!). The good news is that our expert-crafted practice tests will guide you through each major requirement. Start today with our Maine DMV CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests!
Our practice tests present the tested material in the same multiple-choice format as the official exam. They feature an interactive CDL manual, a report that shows your strengths and weaknesses, and an AI-powered Challenge Bank™ that recycles any missed questions until you answer correctly. These tools help ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt. Once you ace this endorsement practice test, try another: https://driving-tests.org/maine/me-cdl-passenger-vehicles-practice-test/.
It’s important to note that testing in a smaller passenger vehicle can limit what you may legally drive afterward. Maine also has a separate "Z" endorsement path for certain school buses designed to transport 15 or fewer passengers, which is different from the CDL Passenger "P" endorsement.
For the passenger endorsement exam, you must understand how to keep passengers safe throughout the trip, which includes both passenger management and vehicle inspections inside and out. You are expected to know how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering mechanism, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices, and emergency equipment. You must also inspect the inside of the bus, where aisles and stairwells must be clear, handholds and railings must be secure, signaling devices must work, seats must be fastened safely, and emergency exit signs, handles, doors, windows, and roof hatches must be functional.
