- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 MA commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
The “L” restriction on your Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) limits your driving opportunities. Most semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, and full-size buses are equipped with air brakes, and your ability to operate them gives you a competitive advantage. National trucking companies, such as Landstar, and local employers, such as Boyle Transportation, need air brake-qualified drivers. With the “L” restriction on your CDL, you may miss out on the best driving opportunities. Air brakes allow you to regulate your speed while transporting heavily weighted loads and reacting to changing road conditions.. Your ability to operate air brakes is critical for slowing down to navigate sharp curves and coming to a complete stop in heavily congested traffic. With proper training, you can understand air brake operations and access more driving opportunities.
Our Massachusetts RMV CDL air brake “endorsement” practice test is an innovative study method that teaches you to competently operate these systems. You must pass an official knowledge test and a skills test (including inspecting the air brakes) to remove the “L” restriction. The practice test contains 30 questions to provide a real-time assessment of your current knowledge level and identify the information you should study to build upon it. You must correctly answer at least 80% of the 25 questions on the official knowledge test to earn a passing score. The practice test systematically helps you overcome your learning obstacles to achieve this score.
This Massachusetts RMV CDL air brake “endorsement” practice test is more effective than traditional study methods in teaching you about air brakes. Traditional study methods are one-dimensional and use an approach focused on short-term memory training techniques. You will be trained to memorize the answers to the questions but not provided with additional instruction to help you understand the questions you get wrong. In comparison, the practice test is based on the most recent Massachusetts RMV CDL manual (Massachusetts CDL Handbook 2025) and is up to date as of August 2025. If you get a question wrong, the practice test takes information directly from the CDL manual to give you a full explanation of the correct answer. This approach is more effective in helping you absorb this information and apply it to various driving scenarios you may see on the official knowledge test. Traditional study methods do not provide this level of assistance in expanding your knowledge base. Without thoroughly addressing your misconceptions, you will be limited to learning surface knowledge, keeping you from fully developing your skills. The practice test provides the skills and confidence needed to pass the official knowledge test on your first try.
