- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 MI commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
The Great Lakes State has a lot to offer drivers who add the Doubles/Triples Endorsement (“T”) to their Class A CDL. Earning a T Endorsement in Michigan opens up higher-paying job opportunities with logistics and freight companies. With interstate routes like I‑75, I‑94, and I‑96 running through the state, and shipping hubs in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Flint, the demand for CDL drivers with doubles/triples certifications is strong. Employers like FedEx Ground, Old Dominion Freight Line, and XPO Logistics frequently hire Michigan drivers with this endorsement.
To legally operate double and triple trailer combinations, you must pass the Doubles and Triples Knowledge Test, which adds this valuable endorsement. Our Free Michigan CDL Doubles and Triples Knowledge Practice Tests are designed to mirror the official Michigan Secretary of State exam format and help you pass on your first attempt. These practice tests include real-time feedback, hints to guide you along, and AI tools that speed learning and improve retention far beyond traditional study methods like study guides found in other online resources.
The official Michigan Doubles/Triples Endorsement Exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, and at least 16 must be answered correctly (80%) to pass. If you fail, the Michigan Department of State enforces a minimum one-business-day waiting period before you may retest, and additional fees may apply.
Our practice test material is derived from the most recent Michigan CDL Manual and focuses on coupling and uncoupling procedures, avoiding jackknifing and rollovers, steering smoothly to prevent the “crack-the-whip” effect, maintaining longer following distances, and thoroughly inspecting all trailers.
Michigan also offers valuable career-expanding endorsements for Tank Vehicles (N), Hazardous Materials (H), the X Combo (N plus H) Endorsement, Passenger (P) vehicles, and School Buses (S). Each requires a written test, and we offer Michigan-specific practice tests to help you pass each one. Also, because most double/triple trailer combinations use air brakes, you’ll need to pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test. Passing this test is required to remove the “L” or “Z” restriction from your CDL. You guessed it! We’ve got Michigan Air Brakes practice tests, too!
This Practice Test is one of two in our current Michigan CDL Doubles and Triples series. Be sure to try the other one, along with our complete set of knowledge, endorsement, and air brake practice tests designed with all Michigan Secretary of State requirements in mind.
