In Minnesota, the Department of Public Safety (DVS) oversees the licensing process and requires all aspiring commercial drivers to pass several knowledge and skills exams. You must also submit identification documents, pass a vision screening, complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT), and pay the licensing fees. Those who plan to engage in non-excepted commerce must also pass a medical exam administered by a certified medical examiner listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry.
