The Land of 10,000 Lakes. The North Star State. Whatever endearing nickname you prefer, this state has some fabulous views and opportunities for CDL drivers who also hold the Passenger "P" Endorsement. Passenger transportation is vital to the state’s infrastructure. Drivers are needed across Minneapolis–Saint Paul, Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, Mankato, Bemidji, and the Iron Range. Job opportunities abound in lake communities, college towns, airport terminals, charter destinations, church trips, school transportation networks, senior transportation, paratransit service, and rural transit routes. If you have your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport more than 15 passengers, including the driver, you’ll need a Passenger "P" endorsement. One of the requirements for obtaining the P endorsement is passing the Minnesota DVS Passenger Knowledge Test, which covers a substantial amount of material found in the state CDL Manual. If you want to transport passengers in CMVs equipped with air brakes, you must also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and the Skills Test in an air brake-equipped vehicle. You are also required to pass the Skills Test in the class of passenger vehicle you plan to operate. To help with all of these requirements, our Minnesota DVS CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests present the tested material in the same multiple-choice format as the official exam. Our content experts have removed unnecessary material and carefully crafted these tests to help ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt.
You are expected to know how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering mechanism, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices, and emergency equipment. You must also inspect the inside of the bus, where aisles and stairwells must be clear, handholds and railings must be secure, signaling devices must work, seats must be safely fastened, and emergency exits must be clearly marked, accessible, and fully functional. During the trip, you’ll need to know how to load and unload passengers safely, manage carry-on baggage, follow hazardous materials restrictions, recognize the standee line, avoid distracting conversations with passengers, and handle disruptive riders. You must also know how to conduct pre-trip and post-shift inspections. All of this and more is covered in the study material and practice tests.
Our interactive, AI-powered Challenge Bank™ remembers any questions you miss and repeats them until you answer correctly. You’ll also receive an end-of-session review so that you’ll know what areas to work on.
