- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 NE commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
To legally drive a combination vehicle in Nebraska, you must pass the state’s Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test (and meet other requirements). This 20-question multiple-choice exam is required for earning your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). At least 16 questions (out of 20) must be answered correctly to pass; that’s a minimum score of 80%. If you don’t pass, you must wait at least one business day before retesting and pay a fee for each attempt.
Our Free Nebraska CDL Combination Practice Test is designed to help you pass on your first try and avoid delays and extra fees. It mirrors the official test format and covers material from the latest Nebraska CDL Manual. Immediate feedback, built-in hints, and a scientifically developed structure make studying easier and much more effective than basic study guides found elsewhere.
With our practice tests, you’ll master tested topics like safe driving practices for combination vehicles (preventing trailer skids and jackknives), air brake systems and procedures specific to combination vehicles, proper coupling and uncoupling techniques, and tractor-trailer inspection procedures.
Nebraska also requires successful completion of Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider listed in the FMCSA Training Provider Registry (TPR). You must complete ELDT before scheduling the required hands-on skills test (which must also be passed to acquire your Class A CDL). Also, you must hold a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) for at least 14 days before scheduling the skills test, which must be taken in a representative combination vehicle. All this may seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Our complete suite of state-specific practice tests will help you pass on your first attempt.
Earning your Class A CDL opens doors to high-demand (and often higher-paying) careers across the Cornhusker State’s trucking sector. Major industries include agriculture, livestock transport, fertilizer and grain hauling, construction, and logistics. Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 81, and Highway 77 are the major trucking arteries throughout the state. Leading Nebraska employers such as Werner Enterprises, Crete Carrier Corporation, Grand Island Express, and FedEx Freight depend on qualified Class A drivers.
Most Nebraska tractor-trailers use air brakes, so passing the separate Air Brakes Knowledge Test is strongly recommended. Without it, your CDL will carry a restriction (code L or Z) that disqualifies you from operating vehicles with air brakes.
