To obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Nevada, you must follow the licensing process employed by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). You must be at least 18 to apply, but you won’t be able to drive across state borders professionally, transport hazardous materials, or carry passengers before you turn 21. You must hold a valid driver’s license, provide identification documents, pass a vision screening, and pay the licensing fees.
Everyone must pass the official General Knowledge Exam. A minimum score of 80% will grant you a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), which you can use to practice driving commercial vehicles under the supervision of a full CDL holder. Depending on the vehicle class or specific endorsements, you may also need to take additional written tests. Once you have your CLP, you’ll need to complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). This is a federal requirement that applies to all 50 states, including Nevada.
This Nevada CDL General Knowledge Practice Test is the third of five we offer. It includes multiple-choice questions based on the Commercial Driver’s License Manual (Nevada CDL Handbook 2026), an official resource published by the DMV. Students have more success at remembering information when they associate it with the question at hand. We recommend opening this handbook in another browser window while you train with this practice test. This enables active learning, which is much more effective than traditional study methods.
Nevada residents completed 156 practice sessions today. You can increase this number by taking this practice test right away. We recommend ignoring your score during your first few attempts, especially if you are unfamiliar with general commercial driving theory. Pay attention to the detailed explanation provided for each question. This feedback will help you strengthen your knowledge, identify areas that need improvement, and learn from your mistakes.
Becoming a safe and responsible commercial driver in the Silver State takes time and effort. Most students spend several weeks studying general commercial driving theory, but our Free Nevada CDL Permit Practice Test can shorten this time. Use it regularly and improve your knowledge one question at a time.
