- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 NV commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for October 2025
Ready to take the next step in your driving career? Adding the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement to your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is the path to expanding your career opportunities and increasing your earning potential. HazMat-endorsed drivers in the Silver State transport explosives, flammable liquids and gasses, radioactive materials, and hazardous waste. Mining and energy companies frequently require the transport of cyanide, petroleum products, propane, and other hazardous substances. Major organizations in Nevada, such as Barrick Gold Corporation in Elko, Southwest Gas Corporation in Las Vegas, and NV Energy in Reno, are just a few examples of employers who depend on qualified Hazmat drivers.
The U.S. government mandates that a strict set of requirements be met before drivers can transport materials deemed hazardous. These requirements are more extensive than other endorsements; however, rest assured that our series of Nevada HazMat tests is designed to fully prepare you to pass the official knowledge exam on your first attempt.
So, how do you get the endorsement? The first step is to make sure all Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements have been met. The process then continues with a mandatory Transportation Security Administration (TSA) fingerprinting and background check. Since results can take several weeks, that time is best spent preparing for the DMV HazMat Knowledge Test. This exam covers federal regulations, safe handling, packaging, quantity limits, and transport requirements for hazardous materials. In Nevada, you’ll need a score of at least 80% on the 30-question test to pass (Nevada CDL Handbook 2025).
We’ve simplified the preparation for you with expert-driven material designed to ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt. Our online practice tests mimic the official DMV exam and provide instant feedback on each answer, a method proven far more effective than the usual end-of-test feedback. Also, this practice test isn’t the only one available within our series. Check out another one here: https://driving-tests.org/nevada/nv-cdl-hazmat-practice-test/.
Once you’ve completed all ELDT requirements, your TSA clearance is done, and you’ve studied, visit the DMV, submit the required documents, pay the fees, and pass the test to earn your Hazmat endorsement.
Check out some of our other Nevada practice tests for such subjects as air brakes, combination vehicles, and general CDL preparation. You’ll find everything needed to prepare!
