Thinking of leveling up your Class A CDL in New Jersey? Ready to expand your qualifications and earnings potential? You’re just one endorsement away! Adding the Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement to your license allows you to legally haul double and triple trailers, opening doors to higher-paying jobs and specialized freight routes.
You must pass the New Jersey Doubles and Triples Knowledge Test to earn this endorsement. The test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, at least 16 of which must be correctly answered (80%) to pass. If you don’t pass, the New JerseyMVC requires a one-business-day waiting period before retesting. After three failed attempts, additional fees may apply.
Our free New Jersey CDL Doubles and Triples Trailers (T) Practice Tests are engineered to mirror the official MVC test format. They provide real-time feedback, hints, and AI-powered tools to boost your understanding faster than studying the manual alone and even faster than with any of the traditional study guides you might find online.

Questions are created and maintained by the Driving-Tests.org content team following our multi-layer editorial process and updated whenever the New JerseyMVC changes its handbook or website information. Official sources we check:
All test material is based on Section 7 of the official New Jersey CDL Manual, including coupling and uncoupling of double and triple trailers, preventing rollovers, jackknifing, and the “crack-the-whip” effect. Also covered are proper following distances, braking techniques, and inspecting trailer connections and braking systems.
Once you’ve passed the test and received your T Endorsement, you’ll be eligible for more competitive jobs across New Jersey’s extensive highway system, including I‑95 (New Jersey Turnpike), I‑80, I‑78, I‑287, I‑295, and Route 1. These major roadways support regional hubs like Newark, Elizabeth, Camden, and Jersey City, where double-certified drivers are in high demand. Major organizations such as Old Dominion, FedEx Ground, and XPO Logistics frequently hire drivers with this endorsement in the Garden State.
Most double/triple trailer combinations use air brakes. To avoid the “L” restriction, you’ll also need to pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test. We offer practice tests and other prep tools designed for first-time testing success for air brakes and other endorsements, such as N (Tank Vehicles), H (Hazardous Materials), X (Hazmat + Tank Combo), P (Passenger Vehicles), and S (School Bus).
This practice test is Practice Test Two in our New Jersey CDL Doubles and Triples Trailers series. Be sure to complete Practice Test One and check out our full library of New Jersey-specific practice exams to ensure you’re ready to pass on your first try.
