- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 NM commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
The Land of Enchantment has a lot to offer drivers who add the Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement to their Class A CDL. Earning a T Endorsement in New Mexico opens the door to higher-paying jobs and a broader range of driving positions. With major interstates like I‑10, I‑25, and I‑40 crossing the state, and hubs in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces, and Farmington, the demand for CDL drivers certified to haul doubles and triples is high. Triple trailers are allowed on some NM roadways, which is not the case in most states.) Employers like FedEx Ground, Old Dominion Freight Line, and XPO Logistics frequently seek New Mexico drivers with this valuable endorsement.
To legally haul double and triple trailers, you must pass the Doubles/Triples Knowledge Test, which adds the T Endorsement to your license. Our Free New Mexico CDL Doubles/Triples Knowledge Practice Tests are specifically designed to mirror the official format used by the New Mexico MVD. These practice tests offer real-time feedback, hints, and AI learning tools to help you retain information and pass the first time.
The official New Mexico Doubles/Triples Endorsement Exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, and you must answer at least 16 (80%) correctly to pass. If you fail, the New Mexico MVD forces you to wait at least one business day before retesting, and additional fees may apply.
Our up-to-date practice materials are based on the New Mexico CDL Manual and focus on coupling and uncoupling trailers, preventing jackknifing and rollovers, steering smoothly to avoid the “crack-the-whip” effect, maintaining longer following distances, and conducting full trailer inspections.
In addition to the T Endorsement, New Mexico drivers can expand their qualifications with endorsements for Tank Vehicles (N), Hazardous Materials (H), the X Combination (N + H), Passenger Vehicles (P), and School Buses (S). Each requires its own written test. And yes, we offer New Mexico-specific practice tests for all of them!
Because most double and triple trailer combinations are equipped with air brakes, you’ll also need to pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test to operate them legally. Passing removes the “L” or “Z” restriction from your CDL. Don’t worry. We’ve got New Mexico Air Brakes practice tests for that too!
This practice test is one of two in our New Mexico CDL Doubles/Triples series. Try the other test along with our full set of endorsement and air brake practice materials, each aligned with New Mexico MVD standards.
