If you have your commercial driver license (CDL) and plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport 16 or more people, including the driver, you’ll need a Passenger "P" endorsement. With that endorsement, the Land of Enchantment offers lots of great new opportunities. From Albuquerque and Santa Fe to Las Cruces, Roswell, Farmington, Taos, and Carlsbad, you can transport passengers for tribal communities, mountain towns, airport routes, charter trips, church outings, school activity travel, senior transportation, paratransit, and more. The state depends on trained drivers to move people safely, and the New Mexico MVD Passenger Transport Test must be passed to obtain the endorsement. Our New Mexico MVD CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests present the tested material in the same multiple-choice format and similar wording as the official exam. Our content experts have removed unnecessary fluff and carefully crafted these tests to help ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt. Our interactive, AI-powered Challenge Bank™ remembers any questions you miss and repeats them until you answer correctly. Ace this practice test and try another: https://driving-tests.org/new-mexico/nm-cdl-passenger-vehicles-practice-test/.
If you plan to operate a passenger CMV equipped with air brakes (including air-over-hydraulic brakes), you must also pass the state’s Air Brakes Knowledge Test and a Skills Test in an air brake-equipped CMV. Check out our New Mexico MVD CDL Air Brakes Practice Tests as well: https://driving-tests.org/new-mexico/nm-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
The P Endorsement Exam focuses on passenger safety. You’ll be expected to understand the protocols for pre-trip and post-trip inspections. These include checking the service brakes, parking brake, steering mechanism, lights, reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels, rims, coupling devices, and emergency equipment. You must also inspect the inside of the bus, where aisles and stairwells must be clear, handholds and railings must be secure, signaling devices must work, seats must be securely fastened, and emergency exits must be marked, accessible, and functioning properly. You must also understand passenger management responsibilities, including how to load and unload passengers safely, manage carry-on baggage, follow hazardous materials restrictions, recognize the standee line, avoid distracting conversations with passengers, and handle disruptive riders.
You must also understand safe speed control of the passenger CMV on curves, railroad-crossing and drawbridge protocol, prohibited practices, and the correct use of brake-door interlocks. Earning the trust to safely transport passengers requires a lot of attention and understanding. Our practice tests help ensure you are fully prepared for this exam.
