- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 NY commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for September 2025
Take your driving career to the next level in the Empire State! If you already hold a Class A CDL in New York, you can expand your driving credentials by earning the Doubles/Triples (T) Endorsement. The (T) endorsement will qualify you to operate vehicles with double or triple trailers. This certification opens the door to higher-paying jobs and specialized opportunities across the state.
To get the T Endorsement in New York, you must pass the Doubles and Triples Knowledge Test. The official New York test is given by the DMV and consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. You must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%) to pass. If you don’t, you must wait at least one business day to retake the test. After three failed attempts, additional fees apply. Our practice tests are just what you need to make sure delays and added expenses do not occur.
Our free New York CDL Doubles and Triples Knowledge Practice Tests simulate the actual DMV exam experience. With built-in hints, real-time feedback, and AI-powered study tools, we make learning much more effective (and faster!) than traditional study guides. All questions are based on the latest New York CDL Manual, covering coupling and uncoupling procedures, preventing rollover and jackknife incidents, safe braking and following distances, avoiding the “crack-the-whip” effect, and inspection procedures for doubles/triples. Our tests are specifically designed to help you pass your official exam on the first attempt!
New York is a state with a lot of freight activity, from major distribution hubs in Buffalo, Albany, and New York City, to busy roadways like I‑87, I‑90, and I‑95. The T Endorsement is in high demand, especially with major carriers constantly seeking certified drivers (like FedEx Ground, UPS, and XPO Logistics).
Most double and triple trailer combinations operate with air brakes. As such, you must pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and complete a skills test in an air brake-equipped vehicle to remove the “Z” restriction. We offer New York Air Brakes Practice Tests and practice tests for other endorsements like N (Tank Vehicles), H (Hazardous Materials), X (Tank/Hazmat Combo), P (Passenger Vehicles), and S (School Buses). New York also has two state-specific CDL endorsements (Metal Coil (M) and Tow Truck (W)). We offer practice tests for the Metal Coil endorsement as well!
This is Test Two in our New York CDL Doubles and Triples Knowledge series. Check out our full suite of New York-specific practice tests for air brake restriction removal and endorsements!
