In the Buckeye State, your CDL job opportunities can be quickly enhanced by meeting additional requirements to become one of the state’s school bus drivers. Before you ever transport a single student, however, you must pass both the Ohio CDL School Bus "S" Endorsement Test and the Passenger "P" Endorsement test (as well as a Skills Exam conducted in a similar type of school bus as the ones you intend to drive). Furthermore, if that school bus operates with air brakes (as most large school buses do), then you must also pass the state’s Air Brakes Test. You’ll also need to meet medical certification requirements through the Ohio BMV, and complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). Our series of expert-crafted practice tests is just what you need to meet the testing requirements with flying colors. Start with our Ohio CDL School Bus "S" Endorsement Knowledge Practice Tests, designed to help you pass your official "S Test" on the first attempt.
It’s important to note that even if your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) carries both the "P" and "S" endorsements, you are not allowed to carry passengers (except authorized trainers or examiners). This restriction remains in place until full licensure is achieved.
The knowledge test centers on student safety. Ohio’s manual places particular emphasis on loading and unloading procedures, the constant use of mirrors, and awareness of the danger zones surrounding the bus. This is especially true of the area ahead of the front bumper, where visibility is diminished. You are expected to anticipate movement, scan for hazards, and maintain control of the vehicle during every stop. You also must understand procedures for securing the bus, managing student behavior, and preventing injuries related to doors, handrails, and sudden movement.
Our practice tests are designed to mirror the structure and wording of the official exam. Coverage of topics is specific to the test, rather than getting lost in unnecessary details often found in other preparatory resources. Our Challenge Bank™ reinforces weaker areas by repeating missed questions until you’ve mastered them, and the results section highlights material for further review.
