- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 OR commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for July 2025
There are several steps involved in earning your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) in Oregon, one of which is to pass the Combination Vehicles Knowledge Test. Passing this test certifies you to legally operate combination vehicles whose gross combination weight rating (GCWR) exceeds 26,001 pounds, and the towed unit’s GVWR is over 10,000 pounds. There is a lot of material to be learned prior to testing – and our practice tests are just the tools you need to pass on your first attempt.
The material you must learn includes safe driving practices for combination vehicles, skid and jackknife prevention, coupling and uncoupling procedures, air brake systems in combination vehicles, and combination vehicle inspection procedures. The test includes 20 multiple-choice questions, at least 16 of which must be answered correctly to pass (80% minimum passing rate). Our Free Oregon CDL Combination Practice Test simulates the actual exam and includes immediate feedback on each question and hints to speed the learning process.
Because most combination vehicles use air brakes, you’ll also want to remove the air brake restriction from your license. That means passing both the Air Brakes Knowledge Test and the skills test in a vehicle with air brakes. Failing to do so will maintain an “L” or “Z” restriction on your license. Don’t worry. We also offer amazing Air Brakes Practice Tests to help you prepare.
But don’t stop there! The more endorsements you add to your CDL, the more job opportunities and often more pay you can receive. Available endorsements include T (for Doubles/Triples), N (for Tank Vehicles), H (for Hazardous Materials), X (for Tank + HazMat combo), and you can even add passenger endorsements for public transit and school bus driving.
These endorsements increase your marketability to Oregon employers like Old Dominion Freight Line, UPS, and FedEx, especially in sectors like agriculture, forestry, distribution, logistics, and long-haul transport. Oregon’s primary highways include I-5, I-84, and U.S. 97, connecting you to major logistics hubs like Portland, Eugene, and Medford. Whether you’re driving through the mountainous areas near Siskiyou Pass or the miles of farmland in the Willamette Valley, a Class A CDL grants you many more job possibilities.
With our Oregon-specific CDL Combination Practice Tests, you’ll have everything you need to pass the official exam on your first attempt. Check out our entire suite of Oregon-specific practice tests for more like the general knowledge test and certification testing materials!
