In the Keystone State, transporting students to and from school and events is taken very seriously. For this reason, there are several federal, state, and local requirements for CDL holders to add this option to their career path. Before you are permitted to transport even a single student, you must obtain both the Passenger "P" and School Bus "S" endorsements. Additionally, you must pass all required knowledge exams (a minimum passing score of 80% is required) and pass a skills test in a school bus. Also, if you plan to drive school buses equipped with air brakes (and most large ones are!), you’ll need to take that skills test in a bus with air brakes. The Commonwealth requires that you study the CDL manual and the dedicated Pennsylvania School Bus Driver’s Manual due to the specialized responsibility that comes with this particular job. With so many requirements and test topics to learn, our content experts have painstakingly removed any unnecessary fluff from our practice tests and focused on exactly what you’ll need to pass on your first attempt.
For CLP holders, it’s important to note that even when you have obtained the P and S endorsements, you are not permitted to transport passengers other than an authorized instructor or examiner until you are fully certified and licensed. The official School Bus knowledge exam evaluates your understanding of loading and unloading procedures, the use of mirrors, and the management of the danger zones (where visibility is limited and most injuries occur) around the bus. You must understand and exercise constant awareness of student movement, proper bus positioning, and hazard detection at all times. You must also understand emergency procedures, railroad crossing protocols, and post-trip responsibilities. Our practice tests cover all of this.
Our Pennsylvania CDL School Bus practice tests are designed to mirror the official exam structure and its often-tricky wording. Our practice tests surpass outdated study guides and static pdfs by providing an interactive interface with AI-powered responses, a Challenge Bank™ that recycles missed questions until answered correctly, and an end-of-session review that highlights topics that need further study.
