- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 RI commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for August 2025
Already earned your Rhode Island Class A CDL? You’re just steps away from unlocking higher-paying driving opportunities and boosting your driving credentials (and your paycheck). The Doubles/Triples (T) endorsement legally clears you to operate double and triple trailer combinations. In Rhode Island, where roadways like I-95 and Route 6 connect the state to the entire Northeast trucking network, this endorsement will suit you well. Tap into this new arena of job opportunities and take your CDL to a whole new level!
To earn the T Endorsement, you must pass the official Rhode Island CDL Doubles/Triples Knowledge Test. It consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. You must correctly answer at least 16 questions (80%) to pass. According to the DMV, if you don’t pass the test, you must wait five business days before retaking it. A retesting fee applies after three failed attempts. Five business days! Our practice tests make sure you avoid these extensive waiting periods and fees.
Our Free Rhode Island CDL Doubles/Triples Knowledge Practice Tests are designed to mirror the official DMV knowledge test in both structure and content. As if you had the best possible study partner, you’ll benefit from our real-time feedback, in-question hints, and AI-powered learning tools. That means smarter studying, quicker progress, and a better chance of passing on your first try. This is your ticket to working doubles/triples with organizations like FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, and UPS that frequently require drivers with this certification.
Every question is based on Section 7 (Doubles and Triples) of the Rhode Island CDL Manual. You’ll review key safety practices like preventing rollovers and jackknifing, coupling and uncoupling techniques, special braking and air brake management, following distance for combination vehicles, and trailer inspections.
Also, nearly all double/triple trailer combinations are equipped with air brakes. To operate them legally, you must pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test to remove any “L” or “Z” restriction from your license. We’ve got you covered here as well with our Rhode Island-specific Air Brakes practice tests!
You should also consider earning additional endorsements like N (Tank Vehicles), H (Hazardous Materials), X (HazMat + Tank Combo), P (Passenger), and S (School Bus). You guessed it! We’ve got Rhode Island-specific practice tests to help you every step of the way.
This practice test is Practice Test 2 of our Rhode Island CDL Doubles/Triples series. Check out Practice Test 1 and our full collection of endorsement prep tools!
