The Ocean State may be small, but there’s nothing small about the opportunities that abound when you add the Passenger "P" Endorsement to your commercial driver’s license (CDL). Passenger transportation is an important part of the state’s economy, especially in areas like Providence, Warwick, Cranston, Newport, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, Narragansett, and Block Island. With a P Endorsement, you can transport passengers on coastal tourism routes, airport shuttles, church trips, charter service, transit systems, senior transportation, paratransit, school transportation networks, and community routes throughout the state and beyond. You must have a P endorsement if you plan to drive a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) designed to transport 16 or more people, including yourself. To obtain the endorsement, you must pass the required Rhode Island DMV Passenger Test. It has 20 questions, and you must answer at least 16 correctly to earn the required 80% passing score. With so little room for error, our content experts have removed the fluff and designed Rhode Island DMV CDL Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests that mirror the format and wording of the official exam. With AI-powered interactivity and a Challenge Bank™ that remembers any missed questions and redistributes them into your queue until answered correctly, our practice tests help ensure you pass your official exam on the first attempt. Ace this one and try another: https://driving-tests.org/rhode-island/ri-cdl-passenger-vehicles-practice-test/.
The test is based on the Passenger Transport material and general safe-driving information in the CDL Manual. If the bus you plan to operate has air brakes, including air-over-hydraulic brakes, you must also pass the Air Brakes Knowledge Test as well as the behind-the-wheel Skills Test (in a vehicle equipped with air brakes). We have Rhode Island DMV CDL Air Brakes Practice Test designed specifically for that knowledge exam as well: https://driving-tests.org/rhode-island/ri-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
Our Passenger Endorsement Practice Tests help you understand how to inspect the service brakes, parking brake, steering system, lights and reflectors, tires, horn, windshield wipers, mirrors, wheels and rims, coupling devices when present, and required emergency equipment. You are expected to review the prior driver’s inspection report and make sure any safety-related defects have been repaired or certified as not needing repair. Aisles and stairwells must remain clear. Handholds and railings, floor coverings, passenger signaling devices, emergency-exit handles, and seats must be safe and functional. Seats must be securely fastened. Emergency doors and windows must not be open while the bus is moving. Emergency-exit signs must remain visible, and emergency warning lights must work. With so much to remember, our practice tests help to make sure you are fully prepared!
