When you apply for a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you must complete Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a provider who is listed in FMCSA’s Training Provider Registry (TPR). Besides providing the necessary documents, passing a vision screening, and paying the application fees, aspiring commercial drivers must also pass a 50-question CDL General Knowledge exam. All questions have multiple answer choices, but only one is correct. You must score 80% or higher before the timer ends, leaving little room for mistakes.
