Free SD CDL Tanker Vehicles Practice Test 2024

To drive a tanker truck in South Dakota, you must obtain the Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement on your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). This endorsement ensures that you are qualified for the complex job of hauling thousands of gallons of liquids and gases across the Mount Rushmore State. Here, fuel transport companies ensure that gas stations and distribution centers receive regular deliveries, while the agricultural sector requires tanker drivers to deliver liquid fertilizers and chemicals. There are plenty of opportunities for someone who is just getting started in commercial driving, but note that you will also need a HazMat (H) endorsement to transport hazardous material that is toxic to humans or the environment.

To obtain the “N” endorsement, drivers must pass a written knowledge test covering topics like tanker safety, handling liquid cargo, emergency procedures and the mandatory pre-trip inspection, which takes place at the start of your shift. The official 2024 CDL manual (South Dakota CDL Handbook 2024) explains these concepts in detail, but some students find its content too difficult to study. It is crucial that you fully understand what it takes to drive a tanker. When you’re out there hauling 7,000 gallons of fuel, there’s no room for mistakes.

That’s why we offer a convenient alternative consisting of several CDL Tanker Vehicles practice tests specific to the state of South Dakota. Now you can evaluate your knowledge in a test environment that resembles the one at the DMV location! Each practice test consists of 20 questions, and to pass, you’ll need to score at least 80%. Aspiring tanker drivers who are still in the learning phase can disregard their scores and focus on increasing their knowledge while actively training on our practice tests. Immediate feedback is provided after every question, allowing you to understand the meaning of each correct answer without waiting until the test ends.

Pro tip: Because we have omitted the time limit from our practice tests, you can search through the CDL manual for the correct answer to a question. While this move won’t be allowed during the official Tank Vehicles knowledge exam, it gives you the opportunity to identify the solution to each question right from its source.

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
