In South Dakota, you may obtain an instruction permit at age 14, which is younger than the minimum age in many states. To receive that permit, you must pass the vision and knowledge tests, provide the required documents, have parent or guardian consent if under 18, and meet the state’s eligibility requirements. The handbook also covers additional requirements for drivers under 18, as well as all requirements and study information needed for adults.

South Dakota allows three attempts to pass a test within a six-month period for each fee paid. After three attempts or six months, you must pay the fee again. If you fail a test, you may not retest before the next working day. Our audio handbook and practice tests help remove this fear from the equation.

The Audio Handbook covers licensing, required documents, permits, renewals, registration, insurance, driving privileges, and the point system. It also reviews safe driving skills, traffic laws, signs and signals, vehicle safety, road hazards, emergencies, and sharing the road with pedestrians, cyclists, motorcycles, trucks, buses, and emergency vehicles. All your testing bases are covered with our audio handbook and South Dakota practice tests. Get started today!
