- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 TN commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for September 2025
Becoming a tanker truck driver in Tennessee is a demanding but rewarding career choice. There is a high demand for drivers with the Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement on their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), especially in the petroleum and fuel distribution industry. Residents of the Volunteer State are familiar with its cold winters, which also increase the demand for heating oil deliveries. The strategic location of this state also increases the need for fuel delivery services. For an aspiring commercial driver, the career opportunities are endless.
However, hazardous materials – such as fuel and industrial chemicals – are toxic to humans or the environment. That’s why such cargo should be transported exclusively by drivers who hold an “X” endorsement, which represents the combination of the Tank Vehicles (N) and HazMat (H) endorsements. You can get these endorsements by passing their respective knowledge tests, and in Tennessee, such qualifications are highly valued.
Initially, you’ll begin by studying the official 2025 CDL manual (Tennessee CDL Handbook 2025). This manual explains the various aspects of commercial driving in detail, including the safe operation of tank vehicles. But how will you know if you fully understood its contents? Most students only find out at the DMV location while taking the official Tank Vehicles exam. While you are waiting for that day to come, you can practice on our Tennessee CDL Tanker Vehicles Endorsement practice tests.
Updated for September 2025, these practice tests are designed to closely resemble the official Tank Vehicles knowledge exam. The only difference is the lack of a timer, which we have omitted for your convenience. Each practice test has 20 questions based on the various aspects of operating a tanker vehicle, including loading and unloading procedures, handling liquid surge and the pre-trip inspection.
We have introduced several features to assist you during your training session. At any point during the test, you can see a general overview that updates in real time. It tells you how many answers you’ve got right and how many more mistakes you can make before you fail. If you are not satisfied with your current practice run, you can always restart the session by using its designated restart button. However, the order of the new questions will be randomized.
