TX CDL General Knowledge Exam Simulator 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

To become a commercial driver in Texas, you must be at least 18 to drive within the state and at least 21 to drive across state lines. You must provide your Social Security number and show proof of U.S. citizenship when you submit your application. Additionally, you must hold a valid Texas driver’s license, pay the license fee, and pass a physical examination. Commercial driving involves great responsibility, and that’s why the Department of Public Safety (DMV) is so strict with the licensing process.

All applicants are required to pass a 50-question CDL General Knowledge exam before they can obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). You will also need to pass additional written knowledge tests and perhaps skills tests to obtain endorsements for specific types of cargo or vehicles, such as hazardous materials, tank vehicles, or passenger vehicles.

The official Texas commercial motor vehicle driver’s handbook (Texas CDL Handbook 2025) discusses the various aspects of commercial driving. Please read its contents at least once to familiarize yourself with this subject. This knowledge shapes your future career, so you should take as long as you need to master it. To boost your learning potential, you can use the most efficient tools online. Give our other CDL permit practice tests a try, as they enable active learning and make studying easier. When you’re ready, use this Texas CDL General Knowledge Exam Simulator to see how well you’d perform before heading to the DMV office to take the official exam.

We have designed this tool to closely reflect the official testing experience. There are no hints, no feedback, and no assistance of any kind. Once you begin a session, you’re on your own. For your convenience, we have omitted any timer from this simulator. There’s no countdown to pressure you, so please avoid rushing. Read every question twice and only select an answer when you’re confident in your choice. If you start today and integrate our tools into your study routine, you’ll be ready to ace the official exam within a few weeks.
