Utah gets its nickname, the Beehive State, because it symbolizes industry, hard work, and community, and driving our students to and from school and school events is an integral part of that process. If you are interested in becoming a school bus driver, you’ll need to meet several federal, state, and local requirements, including passing the UtahDMV CDL School Bus "S" Endorsement Knowledge Test (and a Skills Test in a school bus). (You’ll also need to pass the Passenger "P" endorsement exam, but we’ll discuss that later.) The official School Bus Endorsement Exam requires a minimum passing score of 80% and covers a substantial list of topics. But don’t feel overwhelmed. Our team of content experts has crafted a series of Utah CDL School Bus "S" Endorsement Knowledge Tests that take the guesswork out of how to prepare and help ensure you pass the official exam on your first attempt.

Topics on the exam focus primarily on student safety. Statistically speaking, these are the "danger zones" surrounding the outside of the bus. You’ll be expected to demonstrate constant awareness through mirror use, bus positioning, and constant observation of students as they approach or leave the vehicle. Utah requires that you understand how to perform controlled stops and how to fully secure the bus before allowing students to approach or exit. You must also watch that students’ clothing or backpacks do not become caught on handrails. You must understand the protocol for railroad crossings, evacuations, and student management. You must also know how to complete the post-trip inspection protocol, checking for damage or students still on the bus. Our practice tests cover all of this!

Our practice tests reflect the structure and wording of the exam, which can be quite tricky. Our practice questions feature photorealistic scenarios that ensure you understand the material on a conceptual level, rather than just memorizing outdated study guides or static pdfs. With immediate AI-powered feedback on each response, an interactive CDL manual, and a Challenge Bank™ that continuously revisits missed questions, you can master the material and walk into the official testing site fully prepared. Ace this practice test and try another: https://driving-tests.org/utah/ut-cdl-school-bus-practice-test/.

Once you have completed the School Bus Endorsement Knowledge Test, prepare for the required Passenger Endorsement Knowledge Test. Also, most large school buses rely on air brake systems, so you might want to prepare for that test as well: https://driving-tests.org/utah/ut-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
