Free UT CDL Tanker Vehicles Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

Upgrade your career as a truck driver with a Tank Vehicles (N) endorsement. It can open plenty of doors in Utah, where the oil and gas industry has a high demand for skilled drivers like you. If hauling 8,000 tons of crude oil from the extraction sites in the Uinta Basin to refineries and storage facilities is a job you would like, you might want to consider specializing in this area of commercial driving.

You’ll learn the safe operation of tankers, their unique safety features, the pre-trip inspection and the loading and unloading procedures from the official 2025 CDL manual (Utah CDL Handbook 2025). Your knowledge will then be tested at the DMV location, where you’ll take a 20-question written test for the “N” endorsement. This endorsement allows you to drive vehicles designed to transport liquids or gases in a tank or tanks having an individual rated capacity of more than 119 gallons and an aggregate rated capacity of 1,000 gallons or more.

While you are at the beginning of your learning phase, you might also want to consider studying for the HazMat (H) endorsement, which allows you to transport hazardous materials that are toxic to humans or the environment. Together, the HazMat and Tank Vehicles endorsements will be represented by the “X” endorsement to your CDL. This process may feel overwhelming, which is why we have created a series of Utah CDL Tanker Vehicles Endorsement practice tests to assist you. Consisting of 20 questions, each practice test has been designed to closely resemble the official Tank Vehicles knowledge exam, allowing you to familiarize yourself with its content and format before showing up at the DMV location! (We have also created a series of HazMat practice tests; check them out too.)

Each question has multiple answer options, but only one is correct. Take your time and reread each question before making a choice. There’s no countdown to pressure you as we have omitted any timer from our practice tests, so you can even search the CDL manual for the correct answer. Once you select an answer, pay attention to the detailed explanation that follows. This feedback can be useful for beginners who are just getting started with commercial driving, and we even recommend using a separate notebook or notebook app as a resource for your training sessions.
