Virginia CDL Special Requirements Marathon

This CDL Special Requirements Marathon is based on Virginia Supplement to the Commercial Driver License Manual and it will test you on the information that VA commercial motor vehicle operators must know, in addition to the information in the CDL manual. Every applicant for Class A, B and C commercial license in Virginia will have to take this test, in addition to the General Knowledge exam and other endorsement tests. The Marathon will cycle through all questions in this section until you've answered them all correctly.

Actual DMV permit test: What to expect?

The Virginia permit test has questions.
  • Where: Any Virginia DMV office (find locations)
  • Bring: ID + SSN + residency proof + permit/license fee (see checklist)
  • If you fail: If you’re under 18, you must wait 15 days before retaking the exam. If you’re 18 or older, you may only take the test once per day (each attempt requires the standard testing fee).
