- Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
- Based on 2025 WY commercial driver's license manual
- Triple-checked for accuracy
- Updated for September 2025
Transporting cargo through Wyoming’s unique terrain gives you the opportunity to experience the Rocky Mountains, including the Wind River Range and Bighorn Mountains, as well as the high winds of the Plains areas in this often-breathtaking state. Adding the Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) endorsement to your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is an excellent next step to expand your job market and potentially increase your pay as you navigate these beautiful areas!
The Hazmat endorsement qualifies drivers to transport materials classified as hazardous by the U.S. government. In the Equality State, hazardous materials transported include oil, natural gas, ammonium nitrate, propane, and certain agricultural chemicals. Some prominent organizations in Wyoming include Halliburton in Casper (oilfield services and chemicals), Sinclair Oil Corporation (fuel and oil transport), and Black Hills Corporation in Cheyenne energy and propane distribution). All of these organizations rely on drivers with the Hazmat endorsement.
Obtaining the Hazmat endorsement is a detailed process with several steps in place to ensure that drivers are properly trained to handle these materials safely. It does involve a knowledge test administered by the DOT, which covers federal regulations, substance handling, packaging, quantity limits, and transport configurations for hazardous materials. You’ll need a score of 80% on Wyoming’s 30-question knowledge test to pass (Wyoming CDL Handbook 2025). But before you begin studying for that test, you’ll want to take care of the mandatory fingerprinting and background check conducted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Results from TSA can take weeks, so you’ll want to use that wait time to prepare for the aforementioned DOT knowledge test.
The good news is that we have streamlined the content of our online Wyoming DOT Hazmat Endorsement practice tests to avoid any unnecessary information and designed the practice tests to resemble what you will face on the official DOT test. We also provide feedback on each response in real time so you can learn as you go without waiting until the end for corrections. Ready to kick things off? Once you receive your TSA results and feel prepared by all the practice, you’ll visit the DOT with the necessary documents, pay the fees, pass the test, and take the next big step in your career.
