Free AL CDL Double/Triple Trailers Practice Test 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

In the United States, there are three main classes of Commercial Driver Licenses (CDLs). A Class A CDL is typically for operating combination vehicles, such as semi-trucks and tractor-trailers. A Class B CDL generally is for operating large buses and straight trucks, including box trucks and most dump trucks. A Class C CDL is typically for operating smaller buses (including shuttle buses) or smaller trucks carrying hazardous materials.

No matter which class of CDL you plan to obtain, you must pass the General Knowledge test. To drive combination vehicles, you must obtain a Class A CDL, for which you must also pass the Combination Vehicles knowledge test on the theory of operating combination vehicles. (Then you must pass a skills test in this type of vehicle.) And if you want to drive combination vehicles with two or even three trailers, you must also obtain a Double/Triple (T) endorsement on your Class A CDL. (However, triple trailers are prohibited in Alabama.) To get this endorsement, you must pass the official Double/Triple knowledge test. This test covers such topics as safe handling, air brakes on doubles and triples, coupling and uncoupling, pre-trip inspections, rollovers, and trailer sway. (No special skills test is required for this endorsement.)

All these knowledge tests are based on the official Alabama CDL manual (Alabama CDL Handbook 2025). You likely studied parts of this manual to get your CDL. But if you’ve found it tough to learn enough from this handbook (especially Chapter 7: Doubles and Triples) to pass the Double/Triple knowledge test, you probably need more help.

This Alabama Doubles and Triples Endorsement Practice Test is based on the official CDL manual, just like the official Double/Triple knowledge test. It’s up to date as of November, 2025. This practice test has 20 multiple-choice questions and answers on air lines, converter dollies, coupling, following distance, rearward amplification, and rollovers.

Our AI Assistant can give you a hint if you get stuck on a question or an immediate explanation of the correct answer if you still miss the question.
