In the Southwest, rubber fails faster than almost anywhere else. Because road temperatures in Arizona can exceed 100°F, even a small drop in tire pressure can lead to a blowout. Checking for proper PSI is the most critical part of the pre-trip inspection, which you must perform at the beginning of your shift. This inspection is not exclusively focused on heat management and dust protection. You must also check seat belts, wipers, headlights, and emergency equipment.
This procedure is required by law, as both federal and state regulations require commercial drivers to conduct a pre-trip inspection before they get behind the wheel. You can find more details about this inspection in Section 11 (Vehicle Inspection) of the official Commercial Driver License Manual (Arizona CDL Handbook 2026). You should read this section at least once, and when you’re ready, you can evaluate your knowledge with our Arizona CDL Pre-Trip Inspection Practice Tests.
The second practice test in this series includes several questions with multiple answer choices. Only one answer is correct for each question, so you should carefully consider each option. Many of our practice tests are untimed, including this one. Even though it takes around 6 minutes to complete, we recommend a slow and steady approach. Take as long as you need to finish each session. Please avoid rushing, as doing so will lead you to make avoidable mistakes.
