Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements. The Arkansas School Bus Endorsement Knowledge Test follows the same federal requirements used nationwide, meaning every applicant must pass the official Arkansas DMV Bus “S” Endorsement Knowledge Test, along with a skills test conducted in a school bus. You must also complete the Passenger “P” Endorsement in order to drive a school bus. In fact, until you are fully licensed, the state places a “No Passengers in a CMV Bus” restriction on your Commercial Learner Permit (CLP), which means your only allowed passenger is your driving instructor or driving examiner. This article deals primarily with preparations for the School Bus “S” Endorsement; however, we have resources linked below for the “P” Endorsement as well.
The School Bus “S” Knowledge Test focuses on the procedures that protect students during loading and unloading. You’ll need to know how to approach and handle stops with control, how to use your mirrors continually to monitor blind spots, and how to watch each child the moment they enter the bus’s “danger zone.” This includes making sure that a student’s clothing doesn’t get caught on handrails as they enter or exit. The manual emphasizes careful use of hand signals and the constant awareness needed to ensure students do not move into blind spots. You are also required to fully understand how to deal with railroad crossings, emergency evacuation decisions, student behavior, and post-trip responsibilities (inspecting the interior of the bus and checking for students left behind). Many school districts also have their own requirements, such as local safety instruction, student-management training, or district-run evaluations.
Our Arkansas School Bus S Endorsement Practice Tests are designed to eliminate the fluff you’ll find in other resources and help you focus directly on the necessary material. The practice tests mirror the structure of the official test so that you’ll know exactly how questions are asked. This includes coverage of common distractors, tricky wording, and double negatives often used in the official exam questions. Our revolutionary Challenge Bank identifies any questions you miss and continues to present them until you have mastered each concept. Our practice tests also feature AI-driven feedback and an interactive CDL Manual. Once you’ve mastered this practice test, try another one here: https://driving-tests.org/arkansas/ar-cdl-school-bus-practice-test/.

Also, most full-size school buses have air brakes, so completing the Air Brakes Knowledge Test is necessary. We have practice tests for that, too: https://driving-tests.org/arkansas/ar-cdl-air-brake-practice-test/.
